The Challenge
Building the Future of Himalayan Mountain Guiding
Nepal is home to some of the world's most capable mountain professionals, yet access to advanced training and experienced mentorship remains limited. For many current and aspiring mountain guides, internationally recognised programmes are financially out of reach, creating barriers to continued learning and professional development.
At the same time, the demand for highly skilled mountain professionals continues to grow across the global mountaineering industry. Meeting that demand requires more than experience—it requires structured training, practical education, and access to expert mentorship.

Our Response
Expanding Access. Raising Standards.
The 14 Peaks Mountaineering Institute was established to make advanced mountain education more accessible to the people who need it most.
Each year, selected participants receive fully funded training that combines technical mountaineering, rescue systems, leadership, and high-altitude medical education. Learning is practical, field-based, and delivered by experienced mountain professionals and specialist instructors who understand the realities of working in the world's highest mountains.
Our goal is simple: to help develop capable, confident mountain guides while strengthening the future of Himalayan mountaineering.
Field-Based Learning
Training takes place in real mountain environments where technical skills, judgement, and teamwork are developed through practical experience.
Experienced Faculty
Learn from accomplished mountain professionals, specialist instructors, and high-altitude medical experts with extensive expedition experience.
Fully Funded Opportunities
Financial barriers should never prevent talented mountain guides from accessing exceptional training. Every selected participant joins the programme at no tuition cost.
